Liverpool have been handed a major boost in their bid to sign Bradley Barcola following reports that Paris Saint-Germain have reached a verbal agreement to sign Ajax winger Mika Godts .
Barcola, 23, has been earmarked as Liverpool’s priority transfer target for the remainder of the summer window and the Anfield hierarchy are locked in negotiations with PSG as they look to finalise a deal before Deadline Day on 1 September.
The France international is understood to be open to joining Andoni Iraola’s side before the window closes, but PSG’s steep asking price of a reported €170 million remains a major obstacle to overcome.
It’s reported that Liverpool are desperate to negotiate a cheaper fee in order to finalise an agreement as soon as possible, and while PSG are currently reluctant to budge, the Reds are confident that a deal will be struck shortly.
Furthermore, PSG’s transfer business suggests that Barcola will almost certainly leave the Parc des Princes within the next three weeks.
Luis Enrique’s side have already completed the signing of AS Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche, while they are also on the verge of formally announcing the arrival of World Cup winner Ferran Torres from Barcelona.
In addition, the Ligue 1 giants have now agreed to sign a third forward, as confirmed by transfer expert insider.
Confirmed: Mika Godts to join PSG
PSG have been in talks with Ajax over a deal for Godts for several weeks and the transfer has now been finalised, according to Romano.
He posted on X : “BREAKING: Paris Saint-Germain reach verbal agreement with Ajax for Mika Godts, here we go!
“Package worth €55m verbally agreed after new official bid sent by PSG. Documents yet to be exchanged but verbal pact in place. Exclusive story from July, confirmed.”
Once the signings of Torres and Godts are formally announced, PSG will have nine senior attackers on their books and it’s expected that Barcola will therefore be permitted to depart, with Liverpool regarded as his most likely destination.
The two-time Premier League champions have already bolstered their forward line with the signing of Osasuna winger Victor Munoz so far this summer, but Iraola is keen to bring Barcola to the club and the Frenchman will play a crucial role for the Reds next season if they are able to bring him to Anfield.
