Man Utd close in on double deal as Vitek and Bayindir exits clear way for more signings

Manchester United are making room for another wave of transfer business by moving two goalkeepers closer to the exit door. Radek Vitek is expected to give Michael Carrick's side a new option in goal after agreeing terms with Middlesbrough. The deal is reportedly worth up to £14 million (€16.3m) including bonuses, a significant sum compared with his estimated transfer value of £4.9m (€5.7m). That low valuation reflects his lack of regular first-team experience, but United have protected themselves well. The agreement includes a buy-back option and a 35% sell-on clause, meaning the club can either bring Vitek back or profit from a future Middlesbrough sale. Senne Lammens' rapid rise as the No.1, however, could complicate any return. Altay Bayindir, who has spent the last three seasons as backup at Old Trafford, is also close to leaving. Celta Vigo are set to take the Turkey international on loan with an option to buy for €4m. The loan fee will be determined by how many appearances he makes, with a medical and the formal signing of the contract still to come. These departures are part of a wider plan. United still want to add an attacking midfielder, a left-back and a central midfielder before the window closes, but they first need to clear space on the wage bill and raise funds. Marcus Rashford would have been the ideal big-money departure, but for now the club has settled for moving on squad players. The Ineos-run club has taken a careful approach all summer, refusing to overpay and missing out on Elliot Anderson as a result. They did manage to land Youri Tielemans after matching the Belgium international's release figure at Aston Villa, a deal many see as excellent value. With a month left in the window, supporters are eager to see more new faces. These two moves should help make that possible.
