Man Utd set €70m ceiling in Lewis Hall pursuit

Manchester United are prepared to put €70 million on the table for Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall before the summer window closes on 1 September. The 21-year-old England defender has become the club's priority target for the left side ahead of the 2026-27 season, with United eager to give Luke Shaw real competition for a starting spot. Hall made 30 Premier League appearances for Newcastle last term and, although Thomas Tuchel left him out of his World Cup squad, he is widely viewed as one of the league's best in his position. A product of Chelsea's academy, Hall is said to be open to leaving St James' Park this summer, and United believe they are leading the chase. Newcastle, though, are determined not to sell after a number of departures and with Bruno Guimaraes heading for the exit. Reports suggest the Magpies would demand a significant sum before even considering a deal. United are thought to be willing to go as high as €70m (£60m) for Hall, but no further, and they have lined up Fulham's Antonee Robinson as a cheaper option. The United States international has been a regular for Fulham since joining from Wigan Athletic in 2020. Hall remains at the top of the list, but Robinson is under serious consideration. The club are also working on midfield reinforcements before the window shuts. Mason Mount's pre-season form has eased worries about depth, yet United still want to add another central midfielder to Michael Carrick's squad following Casemiro's departure and Manuel Ugarte's ACL injury. AS Roma's Manu Kone is the preferred choice, while Brighton's Carlos Baleba is also admired. If Joshua Zirkzee is allowed to leave amid Serie A interest, a new forward could follow.
