Man Utd star in talks over transfer that could unlock Baleba deal Make us your Google favourite Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer is reportedly in talks to join Championship side West Bromwich Albion on a permanent deal before the end of the summer transfer window. The 22-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan at the Hawthorns, before joining Hull City on another temporary deal in January, and he could be set to seal a return to the club amid ongoing negotiations over a late summer switch. Collyer has less than 12 months remaining on his current contract at Old Trafford, and Man Utd are therefore open to sanctioning a permanent sale in order to avoid losing him on a Bosman deal in July 2027. The former England U20 international has been linked with a Red Devils exit for several weeks and sources have now confirmed that he is in talks to join West Brom before the end of Deadline Day on 1 September. Collyer would become West Brom’s eighth signing of the summer window if he joins the club - after Felix Horn Myhre, Rabby Nzingoula, Barney Stewart, Jimmy-Jay Morgan, Nolan Galves, Conor Townsend and Matt Ingram - as the Baggies look to bounce back from a disappointing 2025-26 season. They secured a 2-1 win over Norwich City in their opening game of the new Championship campaign on Saturday afternoon. Toby Collyer sale could unlock Carlos Baleba deal Man Utd’s top priority for the remainder of the summer window is believed to be a new left-back, with Newcastle United star Lewis Hall regarded as their primary target, but they are also eager to sign another central midfielder. The Red Devils have already strengthened Michael Carrick’s side with the additions of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, from Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively, but they want to bring in a third new option amid fears over Mason Mount’s injury record. After missing out on Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, Man Utd will be forced to pursue an alternative target before Deadline Day and it’s understood that Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba remains on their radar following their failed bid to sign him last year. It has been reported that Brighton have slashed their asking price to €70 million , after the Cameroon star’s underwhelming 2025-26 season, and the potential sale of Collyer to West Brom could give Man Utd a helpful cash injection in their bid to finally bring Baleba to Old Trafford this summer.
