Man Utd are planning on submitting an opening offer for West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes in the coming days, .
The 21-year-old has emerged as a top target for Michael Carrick’s side following an excellent debut season at the London Stadium, and Man Utd are keen to bring him to Old Trafford this summer as they prepare for their first campaign back in the Champions League since 2023-24.
Fernandes is expected to leave West Ham before the end of the summer window, amid significant transfer interest, and sources have informed sources that Man Utd are planning on making a serious offer for the 21-year-old in the coming days.
We understand that Man Utd’s first bid for Fernandes is likely to be in the region of €75 million (£65m), although this is below West Ham’s current valuation of the player.
Carlos Baleba talks
Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba has reportedly spoken to Bruno Fernandes regarding a possible move to Manchester United this summer.
The Cameroon international was heavily linked with an Old Trafford switch last year and it’s understood that personal terms were fully agreed before the deal collapsed due to Brighton’s asking price of over €115 million.

Baleba is said to have spoken to both Fernandes and Cunha after Man Utd’s 3-0 win at the AMEX Stadium on the final day of the Premier League season, with Baleba in talks with the latter “at length” in the tunnel following the match.
The Cameroon star also interacted with Patrick Dorgu in the mixed zone after the game, while it’s understood that he is close with former Lille team-mate Leny Yoro and international colleague Bryan Mbeumo.
