Chelsea handed chance to recoup half of Maxence Lacroix fee as Como make Trevoh Chalobah offer

Chelsea are in line to recover around half of what they are about to spend on Maxence Lacroix after Serie A side Como submitted a bid worth up to €30 million (£25.6m) for Trevoh Chalobah, according to transfer insider insider.
Romano reports the proposal consists of a fixed €25 million (£21.3m) plus another €5 million (£4.2m) in achievable add-ons. Chalobah is understood to be open to the move, especially with Como set to compete in the Champions League next season.
Should the Blues accept, they would immediately offset a significant chunk of the €60 million (£52m) fee agreed with Crystal Palace for Lacroix. sources revealed earlier Friday that the France international is expected to undergo a medical in the next 24 hours before signing a contract through 2032.
Chelsea are looking to trim their defensive ranks ahead of Lacroix’s arrival, with Chalobah, Axel Disasi, and Benoit Badiashile all believed to be available. Disasi, who spent last season on loan at relegated West Ham, has drawn interest from Palace, per The media.
Chalobah, 26, was one of the few bright spots in Chelsea’s turbulent 2025-26 campaign. The academy graduate made 47 appearances and scored three goals despite the club finishing 10th in the Premier League and cycling through two managers, Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior.
Lacroix, meanwhile, has been a standout since joining Palace from Wolfsburg in August 2024. He helped the Eagles lift the FA Cup, Community Shield, and UEFA Conference League over the past two seasons. His form earned him a spot in France’s 26-man squad for this summer’s World Cup, where he made three appearances, including a substitute outing in the semi-final loss to eventual champions Spain.
Chelsea are also pursuing midfield reinforcements. sources reported Tuesday that a €75 million (£64m) bid for Bournemouth’s Alex Scott was rejected. Scott, 22, has two years left on his deal, and Bournemouth are said to value him at around €94 million (£80m). insider sources indicates Scott has turned down contract offers from the Cherries.
