Mohamed Salah puts shirt-sales demand to Trabzonspor as transfer edges closer

Mohamed Salah has made a major request during transfer talks with Trabzonspor, with the Turkish club reportedly ready to accept his terms. Trabzonspor are the frontrunners to sign the forward. Turkish reporter Yagiz Sabuncuoglu claims Salah and his representatives have asked for 20 to 25 per cent of all shirt sales if the forward moves to the Super Lig side. Sabuncuoglu adds that Trabzonspor, seven-time Turkish league champions, are willing to agree to that demand. The news follows Saturday's report that Trabzonspor have offered Salah a two-year contract worth €17m (£14.5m) per season. Salah is a free agent after leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2025-26 Premier League season. He spent nine years at Anfield, scoring 257 goals in 442 appearances - only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt sit above him in the club's all-time scoring charts. He won eight trophies with the Reds, including two Premier League titles and the 2018-19 Champions League. Before joining Liverpool for an initial €42.6m (£36.5m) in June 2017, Salah had spells at Basel, Chelsea, Fiorentina and Roma. The 34-year-old Egypt captain helped his national team reach the World Cup knockout stage, where they squandered a two-goal lead and lost 3-2 to Argentina in a chaotic last-16 tie. Egypt manager Hossam Hassan accused officials of bias after Haissem Hassan's goal was disallowed, with VAR ruling that Lisandro Martinez was fouled in the build-up. Trabzonspor, managed by Fatih Tekke, finished third in the Turkish Super Lig last season and lifted the Turkish Cup. They will play in the Europa League this season and have Andre Onana in the squad after extending his loan from Manchester United. Salah was previously linked with Besiktas before that move collapsed. Besiktas have since signed Leandro Trossard from Arsenal in a deal worth €18m (£15.3m) in July.
