Trabzonspor president denies Mohamed Salah agreement: 'There is no such deal'

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan has dismissed reports that his club have agreed to sign Mohamed Salah on a Bosman deal, insisting there is no agreement and no plan to bring the Egyptian forward to Trabzon. Salah is a free agent after leaving Anfield at the end of June. The 34-year-old has been linked with clubs in Saudi Arabia and the United States, while Besiktas are in talks with him and have already submitted an initial contract offer. Trabzonspor were reported to be ready to hijack that move as they look to bring in significant reinforcements ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. The Turkish club have signed 11 permanent players this summer and have also agreed a second loan deal for Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana. But when asked about Salah, Dogan made it clear the speculation is wide of the mark. "There is no such agreement," Dogan told Turkish outlet A Spor. "As for plans to bring him to Trabzon, there is no such plan; there is nothing to it. If there were such a plan, information would be provided from our side, the press would be informed, and so on. There is no such thing." Dogan acknowledged Salah's standing in the game, describing him as a "very professional, highly successful player known worldwide" and "one of the players with the best careers out there," but repeated that no agreement exists. "Of course, who wouldn't want Salah? That is a separate matter. But as of now, there is no such agreement involving our club," he said. Asked whether he had spoken to Salah about a move, Dogan said: "I don't want to talk about this. Of course, the fans want to see a player like Salah, and so do I. Bringing in certain players requires a certain stance and a certain way of behaving. That's what I'm trying to do as president right now. I know people's focus is on this; there's no agreement, no planned trip. We will inform our community and our fans as soon as there is a development."
