With the 2026 summer transfer window closing on September 1, Europe's biggest clubs are preparing for a busy final month. Vinicius Junior remains the potential story of the summer if Real Madrid cannot agree a contract extension, with Arsenal monitoring the situation. Julian Alvarez and Yan Diomande have also been linked with moves before deadline day.
Chelsea have spent more than any club in world football this summer, completing deals for Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix, Marco Palestra, Danny Welbeck and Valentin Barco. A move for Jordan Henderson is also in place. Tottenham have also invested heavily, bringing in Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes for more than €200m combined, while Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka have arrived in north London.
Manchester United have added Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, Karl Darlow and Tynan Thompson to Michael Carrick's squad, but missed out on top target Elliot Anderson, who joined rivals Manchester City. City, managed by Enzo Maresca and working through their first transfer window without Pep Guardiola since January 2016, paid a club-record €135m for the England midfielder and also signed youngsters Mathys Detourbet, Jeremy Monga and Pierce Charles. Arsenal have brought in Christos Tzolis, Piero Hincapie and Illan Meslier, and are in advanced talks with Newcastle United over Bruno Guimaraes. The Gunners could also finalize a deal for Vinicius.
Real Madrid, now led by Jose Mourinho, have signed Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate, Bernardo Silva and Carlos Espi, with Rodri also a possibility. Barcelona have added Anthony Gordon for €80m, Karim Adeyemi for €22m rising to €29m, and Jesse Bisiwu for €8.5m. Bayern Munich have signed Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari following their World Cup performances. Juventus have brought in Randal Kolo Muani and Kerim Alajbegovic, while AC Milan have backed new manager Ruben Amorim by signing his compatriot Goncalo Ramos for €74m. John Stones has joined Inter Milan on a Bosman deal, and PSG are in advanced negotiations for Maghnes Akliouche, Ferran Torres, Mika Godts and Zion Suzuki.
As for officially completed transfers in Europe's top five leagues on August 3, only one has been confirmed so far: Lukas Hornicek has joined Newcastle from Braga for €30.6m. No clubs in La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga or Ligue 1 have finalized a deal as of yet.
