All the latest rumours and gossip as the transfer window heads to a dramatic conclusion, with sagas involving Julian Alvarez and Enzo Fernandez yet to be resolved, while big moves could still come at Liverpool, Tottenham and more.
Alvarez returns to Atletico Madrid training – but Arsenal could still move
Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez has returned to training following several days of absence last week. The Argentine has had his dream of a move to Barcelona dashed by the club, but the prospect of a move to Arsenal is still one that is open.
The Gunners are selling both Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus – the latter moving to Barcelona – generating space in Mikel Arteta’s squad to make a potential late move for Alvarez before the transfer deadline.
A former Manchester City player, the 26-year-old has indicated that he does not want to return to the Premier League, but at this point in the window, he may see it as preferable to staying at Atletico Madrid, where he has made clear his unhappiness.
Man City still monitoring Enzo Fernandez but yet to bid
Manchester City continue to hold talks with the agents of Enzo Fernandez, though they have not bid for the Chelsea midfielder, insider says.
Fernandez has been agitating to leave Stamford Bridge for the last six months but has yet to earn a move away.
Chelsea are believed to be open to a move at the right price, though this deal is set to go right down to the wire.
Liverpool hunt more wingers after Barcola deal done
Liverpool are on the verge of signing Bradley Barcola from PSG, but according to media , the Reds will chase one further wide attacker before the close of the transfer window.
Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh and Ismaila Sarr are high on their list of targets, although Crystal Palace are doing their best to fend off interest in the latter, having already rejected a £50m bid from the Anfield club earlier this summer.
Cody Gakpo ’s move to Manchester City going through likely hinges on the Reds finding a replacement.
Nicolo Schira reports that Liverpool are also taking an interest in Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who has had a €75m valuation placed on his head by the French club. Newcastle are also interested in the Belgian.
Spurs target USMNT star Pulisic
Tottenham are still seeking more attackers after their poor start to the season, with TeamTalk reporting that Spurs are eyeing a move for United States international Christian Pulisic.
Having apparently missed out on Cody Gakpo, Roberto De Zerbi’s side are looking for alternatives, with Pulisic high on their list of options.
His previous Premier League experience is seen as a major plus, although he has been nursing a microfracture, which has seen him benched by Milan for their first two games of the season.
Other players Spurs are following include Lyon’s Malick Fofana, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Jean-Matteo Bahoya and Lille’s Fernandez-Pardo.
