Transfer Rumours: PSG Move Ahead of Premier League Sides in Mika Godts Chase
0
Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on Ajax winger Mika Godts. insider reports that PSG have opened talks with Ajax for the 21-year-old, who shone in the Eredivisie last season with 17 goals and 13 assists in 34 matches. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United had all shown interest over the summer, but PSG now look best placed to win the race. Earlier reports suggested Godts could cost as much as €60m, with the Belgian viewed at PSG as a potential replacement for Bradley Barcola, who has been linked with Liverpool.
Arsenal are also weighing up what to do with Ethan Nwaneri. The English midfielder spent last season on loan at Marseille and would likely find game time hard to come by this season, given that Mikel Arteta can call on Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Martin Zubimendi, Eberechi Eze, Mikel Merino and Myles Lewis-Skelly in central midfield. Bruno Guimaraes is also expected to arrive from Newcastle. The Gunners are open to a loan or a permanent sale if the offer is right, with Milan, Everton and Fulham all linked. Milan see him as a good fit for Ruben Amorim's midfield, and a deal in the region of €35m has been mentioned.
Arsenal have also agreed a deal for Bruno Guimaraes, with the fee set at €90m. Newcastle are in chaos after Eddie Howe resigned as manager this week, while Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon have already been sold to Tottenham and Barcelona, respectively. Guimaraes has told Newcastle he wants the move and has become Arsenal's number one target since the World Cup ended.
Inter have made Curtis Jones a priority midfield target but cannot agree a fee with Liverpool. An opening offer of around €25m was rejected, and a second bid worth approximately €35m has followed. Liverpool want €40m or more and are refusing to lower their demands. Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola said in early July: "I rate Curtis very highly. For me he is a great, great player, and I hope he can continue with us and continue performing the way he has been performing."
Roma have switched their attention to Gabriel Martinelli after missing out on Crysencio Summerville, who joined Al-Hilal from West Ham. The Serie A club had also considered Antonio Nusa and Said El Mala, but Martinelli would be the most expensive of the three, with Arsenal demanding €50m. The Gunners have already signed Christos Tzolis for the left wing and are still being linked with Nico Williams and Vinicius Junior, which could give Roma room to negotiate.
Elsewhere, Newcastle are close to landing goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek from Braga for around €29m and have also been linked with Tyler Adams as a possible replacement for Guimaraes. PSG are reportedly close to an agreement for Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche in a €50m deal, while PSV are interested in Lutsharel Geertruida but reluctant to meet RB Leipzig's €20m asking price. Joao Cancelo is also reported to be set to agree a permanent move away.
