Yan Diomande's €130m Real Madrid Switch Is Being Held Up by an Agency Dispute

Yan Diomande's move to Real Madrid has hit a wall despite the two clubs reportedly agreeing on a package worth more than €130 million. The deal appeared close to being wrapped up days ago, yet the move has not been completed. The reason, according to reports, is a legal conflict between two agencies that has now reached FIFA. Roc Nation, the agency leading the negotiations and also representing Vini Jr and Endrick, is at odds with Maxidel Management over money. AS reports that Maxidel is still owed a share of the fee and that the issue could "significantly impact the registration of the winger." The Spanish outlet also says Real Madrid was unaware of the dispute, even though it had been simmering for months. A complaint has been sent to FIFA, and the case is now being studied. Real Madrid is also exploring whether Diomande can be given a provisional license. The story has also triggered a public disagreement between reporters. Transfer insiders Florian Plettenberg and insider clashed on social media, with Plettenberg, of broadcaster Sport Deutschland, insisting that Romano's report of the deal being finalized was wrong. At this stage, Plettenberg appears to have been correct. French investigative journalist Romain Molina, who has made a documentary about Diomande, has been scathing toward Roc Nation. He said on X that the legal process had slowed the transfer because Roc Nation had ignored other parties for months and was only now trying to find common ground. He also questioned how Real Madrid's Juni Calafat could have been unaware of the problems. Molina added that there are other reasons for the delay, including issues between the clubs and RB Leipzig's difficulty in securing a replacement. Real Madrid and Leipzig both want the transfer completed. FIFA could delay the deal or, in extreme cases, block the International Transfer Certificate if the agency dispute escalates. But the expectation is that the move eventually goes through. Based on labor laws, FIFA tends to protect a player's right to play for a new club, so a complete collapse looks unlikely. For now, Diomande's switch to Real Madrid is stuck in limbo. The frustration for Los Blancos is understandable, but the odds still favor the transfer being completed.
