The Liverpool legend's start to life in Turkey has gone anything but smoothly, with Trabzonspor plunged into chaos shortly after his arrival. Although Salah has scored four goals in seven appearances, the Anatolian club have won just twice. In late August, they crashed out of the Europa League to Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros in humiliating fashion, after which head coach Fatih Tekke tendered his resignation. Bizarrely, this was rejected by the club - only for them to sack him a few days later after a 2-1 loss to Amed SK. Through seven games across all competitions, Trabzonspor boast a hugely disappointing record of two wins, a draw and four losses. It's early days, but they are only ninth in the Super Lig standings, six points off leaders Galatasaray. Mounting a title challenge - the club's goal for the season - is already starting to look like a pipe dream. The club also failed to strike a deal for Tottenham striker Richarlison two weeks ago, instead signing Midtjylland star Franculino as their marquee centre-forward to support Salah. Is Salah growing frustrated? Given Trabzonspor's torrid start to the season and managerial chaos, the Turkish press has been quick to speak of a possible rift between Salah and the club. The 34-year-old is said to already be unhappy in Turkey. Speaking in a fresh interview with , club president Ertugrul Dogan has categorically denied these claims. "Contrary to what the Istanbul press is writing, Salah is very happy," he insisted. "If an Istanbul club had made Salah's transfer, the place would still be in uproar. It's not just a transfer. He's the world's greatest Muslim footballer. Since the day he arrived, he's been helping us in every way. "He's the first to arrive at training and the last to leave. He's an exemplary player. When we transferred him, we hoped he would also contribute to the young players in the team, and he fits perfectly into that. "He's an exemplary character for everyone. He knows and loves the city. Thank goodness, we've transferred a great character." He added: "I think Salah and our [new] coach will get along very well. He doesn't really have any qualities that can be improved. We need to work with him, Salah is quite open to that. He's probably one of the top 5 footballers in the world." Who is Salah's new coach? Salah's new coach has touched down in Trabzon, and it is perhaps not the big name many had expected. There were links with the likes of Antonio Conte - who reportedly demanded an unreasonable salary - and Stefano Pioli. In the end, Trabzonspor settled on a familiar face. Former Bundesliga manager Thomas Reis, who already had a spell in the Super Lig from 2024 to 2026, will take the reins at the club despite only joining Bulgarian giants Ludogorets in July. The German flew into Trabzon on Dogan's private jet on Tuesday. Prior to his tenure at Ludogorets, Reis was in charge of Samsunspor, whom he led to a third-place finish for the first time in almost 40 years during his first season in charge. An eight-game winless run during last year's festive period piled the pressure on him, and despite managing to stabilise results, he was sacked in February after back-to-back defeats, with the team seventh in the table. Despite how things ended, Dogan believes that Reis' spell at Samsunspor, where he operated with a "limited squad," was hugely successful. The 52-year-old's financial demands also convinced Trabzonspor to bring him back to Turkey. "There were coaches who demanded very large sums, but I don't want to talk about that," Dogan explained. "Despite the limited squad at Samsunspor, he had put on a very good performance, and he was a name we had in mind. "Afterwards, we spoke with his club and learned that there was a release clause.
