Chelsea Lead the Race to Sign Jordan Henderson

Chelsea are making a serious push to bring Jordan Henderson to Stamford Bridge. According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have emerged as the frontrunners to sign the experienced midfielder, who could leave Brentford on a free transfer. Talks are already underway between all parties involved. While two other unnamed clubs remain interested, Chelsea have pulled ahead and look best placed to secure the deal. Henderson, now 36, is said to be open to the move and eager for a fresh challenge in West London. The former Liverpool captain joined Brentford last year as a free agent after his stint at Ajax. In the 2025/26 Premier League season, he made 32 appearances, scoring once and adding three assists. His contract with the Bees runs until summer 2027, and Transfermarkt values him at €1 million. Henderson also saw six minutes of action for England against Panama at this year's World Cup, though he later picked up a frustrating injury during the knockout rounds. Earlier reports also indicated Chelsea are in talks to sign Danny Welbeck.
