Josko Gvardiol signs new Manchester City deal through 2031

Manchester City have officially secured the long-term future of Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol, with the 24-year-old putting pen to paper on a contract that runs until the summer of 2031. Despite serious interest from Real Madrid, Gvardiol decided to stay in England. The center-back sees Manchester as the ideal place to continue his career in the coming years. Gvardiol joined City in the summer of 2023 from RB Leipzig for a massive €90 million - a world-record fee for a defender at the time. Injuries hampered his second season, forcing him to spend extended spells on the sidelines, but overall he has made 122 appearances for the club across all competitions. During his time at the Etihad, he has won every major trophy available, including the Premier League, Champions League, and Club World Cup.
