Brentford closing in on record €48m deal for Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangaré

Brentford are closing in on the signing of Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangaré. According to L'Équipe, the Premier League side is in advanced negotiations, with the deal likely to be worth around €48 million. If completed, the 24-year-old Malian would become Lens's most expensive sale in the club's history, surpassing the current record held by Loïs Openda, who moved to RB Leipzig for €40 million in the summer of 2023. Sangaré emerged as one of the breakout stars of last season, registering three goals and four assists in 33 appearances. Lens brought him in from Rapid Vienna just last summer for a modest €5 million. No final agreement has been reached yet, and Crystal Palace are also keeping tabs on the midfielder, potentially looking to hijack the move with a better offer.
