Maxence Lacroix: 'Chelsea are the best club in the world'

New Chelsea signing Maxence Lacroix has spoken for the first time about his move to Stamford Bridge, declaring that the London club is the biggest in the world. The 26-year-old French defender has put pen to paper on a contract running until June 2032, with Chelsea paying €61 million for his services. 'This is the best move for me because Chelsea are the best club in the world,' Lacroix told the club's media. 'I spoke with Malo Gusto, Trevoh Chalobah and Benoît Badiashile. It's easy for people to speak highly of this club because it has such a big history, and I'm very proud to be part of it.' Lacroix also revealed that a phone call with the head coach sealed the deal. They discussed tactics and the manager's vision for the team. 'Above all, I was happy just to talk about football with him and I could see we are on the same page. We share a desire to achieve success with this club,' he explained. The defender admitted that conversations with his France teammates already at Chelsea, especially Gusto, made the decision straightforward. 'When I spoke with the coach and with the lads from the national team, they told me this was the best option. I told myself there was no need to overthink it. After talking to them, I knew this was the right step forward,' Lacroix added.
