Newcastle United Agree Deal with Matthias Jaissle to Replace Eddie Howe

Newcastle United have reached a verbal agreement with Matthias Jaissle to become the club's next head coach, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. The 38-year-old German is expected to leave Saudi side Al-Ahli (Jeddah) in the coming days and sign a four-year contract with the Magpies. Jaissle has been in charge of Al-Ahli since the summer of 2023. During his tenure, the club won the Saudi Super Cup in 2025 and claimed back-to-back AFC Champions League titles in 2025 and 2026. Prior to his move to Saudi Arabia, Jaissle managed Liefering and RB Salzburg, with whom he lifted the Austrian Cup in 2022 and won the Austrian Bundesliga twice (2022, 2023). Current Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is set to depart St James' Park.
