Ancelotti: This World Cup marks the end of a generation for Neymar, Danilo and Casemiro

Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has hinted that Neymar, Danilo and Casemiro are no longer part of his plans for upcoming tournaments. "I think this World Cup marks the end of a generation of very important players. Starting with Neymar and continuing with Danilo, Casemiro - all those players who were over 30 at the World Cup. We will be tracking new players who can come into the squad - not to mention the next World Cup in 2030, but who can already be competitive for the first goal, which is the 2028 Copa America. We need to have a very strong link with the U-20 team, which has to prepare for the Olympics. From there, players can emerge for the next World Cup. I think we have to use the friendlies we will have next year to look at new players we know less about. We have to evaluate well, choose the right talents, and then support them. Obviously, with the help of clubs, because inevitably a young player spends most of his time at his club. We need to monitor that progress together with the clubs. We will have four years to prepare. We had to do a lot of things in the first year, considering that from March to June we had eight injuries that somewhat changed the structure of the team. So the truth is that pressure will always be there. But I think it is pressure stretched over time. The first goal will not be the 2030 World Cup, but the Copa America. We will try to win the 2028 Copa America," Ancelotti told Globo. Brazil's 2026 World Cup ended with a 1-2 loss to Norway in the round of 16 of the playoffs.
