Bournemouth signs António Silva from Benfica in £21.4m deal

Bournemouth has officially confirmed the signing of centre-back António Silva from Benfica. The 22-year-old Portugal defender arrives from the club after developing through its academy. According to the club, the transfer fee is £21.4 million, with another £4.3 million available in bonuses. Silva leaves Benfica having made 275 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals and adding five assists. During his time there, he won one Portuguese league title, two Super Cups and one Portuguese League Cup. Silva is also a regular for Portugal and lifted the Nations League trophy with the national team in 2025. He is expected to join his new teammates immediately and be available for the start of the new season.
