Roma ready to pay up to €25m for Feyenoord's Givairo Read

Roma is stepping up its plans to strengthen the defense. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Italian club is prepared to offer up to €25 million for Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read. The Rotterdam club is expecting the first official inquiry from Italy. Read has become an important piece for Feyenoord. The 20-year-old made 16 league appearances last season, scoring one goal and adding three assists. With his contract running until June 2029, the Dutch club holds a strong hand in any talks. Roma, though, may face competition for the player. Nottingham Forest has been monitoring the young defender closely and is weighing up a move. Roma is also keeping alternatives in mind. One of the main alternatives is Sporting Lisbon defender Ivan Fresneda, although no direct contacts have been made with the Portuguese club regarding the Spaniard.
