Dzeko commits to Schalke with new deal after promotion

Schalke have officially confirmed that Edin Dzeko will stay at the club for another season. The 40-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina striker has signed a contract that runs through the summer of 2027. Dzeko joined Schalke in the winter of 2026 as a free agent and became a key figure in the team's push back to the top flight. He made 11 appearances in the second half of the 2025/26 season, scoring six goals and adding three assists as Schalke won the 2. Bundesliga title and secured promotion. His previous deal expired on June 30, briefly making him a free agent before both sides agreed on a new one-year contract. The veteran will continue to wear the No. 10 shirt for Schalke. Dzeko also played three matches for Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 2026 World Cup, where the team was eliminated in the round of 32 by the United States. The upcoming campaign will be the 23rd of his professional career. He will rejoin the squad on August 4 as Schalke begin their preparations for life back in the Bundesliga.
