Flick frustrated by Ferran Torres' public uncertainty over Barcelona future

0
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is disappointed that Ferran Torres chose to discuss his future through the media instead of addressing the club directly. The manager had counted on the 26-year-old forward for the new season, so the player's guarded comments came as an unwelcome surprise. Torres did not commit to staying at Camp Nou, saying that in football you can never be sure what comes next. With Paris Saint-Germain circling, those remarks have fueled even more talk about a potential move. Barcelona were taken aback by Torres going public with his situation, though they do not see it as a crisis. Some at the club believe he may be trying to improve his negotiating position ahead of possible contract talks. Others were already prepared for the idea that PSG's interest could make the Spain forward think about a departure. The Catalan side now want Torres and his representatives to make their intentions clear. Barcelona are not willing to sell below his market value and have no intention of getting into a financial fight with PSG by significantly improving his contract offer. Torres' current deal with Barcelona runs until the summer of 2027, and talks have not yet opened over an extension.
