Modrić: I Could Have Renewed with Milan Back in December

Luka Modrić faced a big decision this summer as his Milan contract ran down and the 2026 World Cup with his national team loomed. The 40-year-old midfielder ultimately chose to stay with the Rossoneri, and he has now opened up on why that choice was never really in doubt. "My dream has always been to win with Milan. That's why I came to this club, not for fun. My objective is to lift a trophy with Milan, whether it's the scudetto or something else. That's why I'm here, and it has always been my mission. I never had any doubts about renewing the contract. I could have done it in December, but I preferred to wait and see how my body would respond, and whether I would still have the same determination and passion for football," the Croatian midfielder said. In his first season with Milan, Modrić made 37 appearances, scored two goals and provided three assists.
