Chelsea close in on Rayo Vallecano's Chavarría as Cucurella replacement

Chelsea lost Marc Cucurella this summer after Real Madrid lured the Spanish full-back away, leaving the Blues short on the left side of defense. The club went looking for options in that area and has settled on Rayo Vallecano's Pep Chavarría. The two sides are close to completing a deal. Rayo has accepted an offer worth €19 million plus bonuses for the 28-year-old, and Chavarría is expected to join Chelsea soon. The defender registered one goal and three assists in 44 appearances last season.
