Takehiro Tomiyasu closing in on Crystal Palace move

Takehiro Tomiyasu is set to become a Crystal Palace player, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. The 27-year-old Japan defender has already passed a medical in London, with the contract expected to be signed within the next 48 hours. Tomiyasu will join the London club as a free agent. His contract with Arsenal was terminated by mutual consent a year early because of persistent injuries. He made only nine appearances for Ajax and played three times for Japan at the World Cup. Tomiyasu had previously been on trial with the Eagles.
