Atalanta target Romagnoli and Todibo as Djimsiti nears Saudi exit

Atalanta has already started looking for a new center-back as captain Berat Djimsiti edges toward the exit. According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Bergamo club is exploring defensive options, with Lazio defender Alessio Romagnoli emerging as the leading target. Djimsiti has reportedly asked to be allowed to leave for Saudi Arabia, and a switch to Al-Diriyah is in its final stages. The Saudi side has agreed to pay around three million euros to Atalanta, according to the report. That has pushed Atalanta into action, and talks over Romagnoli have been opened. The 31-year-old Italian was previously close to joining Qatari side Al-Sadd, but that deal stalled because of delays with payments. That opened the door for Atalanta to enter the race for the defender. Romagnoli is not the only name on Atalanta's list. Atalanta is also tracking West Ham center-back Jean-Clair Todibo. Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has been following the Frenchman for a while, although no formal talks have taken place yet. A loan move for Todibo is also being considered as Atalanta reshapes its defense ahead of the new season.
