Real Sociedad makes loan offer for Marseille defender Aguerd

Marseille is in serious financial trouble, and the consequences could be harsh: the French club risks losing its top-flight place as early as next season. In an attempt to balance the books, the Provence side has already started working on player exits, so there should be plenty of transfer news around its squad in the near future. Moroccan central defender Nayef Aguerd could be one of the first to leave. Real Sociedad is reported to have tabled an offer worth €4m for a season-long loan, with the Basque club holding an option to make the move permanent for an additional €11m. Aguerd was eager to join the Spanish side, and that willingness made negotiations significantly easier. Last season, the defender made 22 appearances and scored one goal.
