The first stage of the reconstruction was devoted to strengthening the attack. Last summer, Manchester United spent £207 million on the transfers of Mateusz Cunha, Brian Mbemo and Benjamin Szesko. This summer, the club focused on strengthening the midfield. Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleb were bought for a total of £155m.
