Isaac's double earned Liverpool victory over Ipswich
0
In the opening match of the 3rd round of the English Premier League, Liverpool won away from Ipswich with a score of 2:0. The main hero of the meeting was Alexander Isak, who scored a double in the first nine minutes.
Liverpool took the lead in the 6th minute. Milos Kerkez won the ball in the middle of the field and found Cody Gakpo, who put Isaac in a striking position with a great pass. The Swedish forward received the ball in the penalty area and punched Kjell Scherpen with a powerful shot with his right foot.
The hosts did not have time to recover, as the score became 2:0. In the 9th minute, Gakpo again showed excellent vision of the field, passing a pass to Isaac. The attacker beat the defender and sent the ball into the near corner with his left foot, scoring a double.
In the first half, Liverpool could have scored more than once. Florian Wirtz and Dominik Soboslai regularly threatened the Ipswich goal with shots from distance, and Isak even sent the ball into the net for the third time, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
After the break, Ipswich tried to get back into the game, but the visitors were firmly in control. The hosts created some chances, including Julio Enciso's dangerous cross, but Alisson dealt with the threats.
Liverpool acted pragmatically in the second half and calmly led the match to victory, which became Andoni Iraola's first at the head of the Merseysiders.
