Carrick: A draw against Everton feels like a loss

0
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick did not hide his disappointment after a dramatic 2-2 draw away to Everton. According to the mentor, the loss of points in the last seconds left a feeling of complete defeat. The match at the Gill Dickinson Stadium was an optimistic scenario for the Mancunians: the visitors led twice in the course of the meeting. It seemed that the substitution of Benjamin Sesko was decisive - in the 88th minute, the forward scored the goal that should have been the winner. However, home debutant Ainsley Maitland-Niles equalized with a stunning strike in the 96th minute of stoppage time to steal the three points from the Carrick side. "We are bitterly disappointed. To be in this position, to lead twice so close to the final whistle after all the work we put in... It's not a very good feeling. It feels like a defeat, at this stage it's obvious. We took a point, we can't ignore it, but it seems we should have got a lot more," the United manager admitted after the match. After this result, Manchester United is 11th in the league table, with one win, one draw and one loss. However, Carrick disagrees with criticism of the campaign's poor start: "To be honest, we haven't had a bad start to the season. Not too bad. We were very close to getting the three points today. That's football. There are little details we could have done better, but we'll be fine," added Michael. Separately, the coach noted the game of Marcus Rashford. The winger was one of the brightest players on the left flank of the attack, constantly creating a threat near the opponent's goal, but was forced to leave the field in the second half due to a micro-injury. "He just felt some discomfort but he performed very well. He looked very sharp and dangerous today. Maybe the last touch didn't quite go well for him, but he created great chances and was a big threat for the opposition throughout the game," Carrick explained the situation with Rashford. We will remind, on September 10, Manchester United will start in the Champions League. The Mancunians will host the main sensation — Sabah of Azerbaijan. The starting whistle will sound at 22:00
