On Tuesday, the Italian will play his first match in charge of the city in the Champions League - the team will play against Porto at the Estadio do Dragan. The townspeople approach this match in a great mood, leading the Premier League standings after three consecutive victories at the start of the season. During Monday's open training ahead of the flight to Portugal, journalists drew attention to Maresca's unusual innovation: the players worked out to loud music that more closely resembled the atmosphere of a night club. "That's what I used at Leicester and Chelsea and now I've implemented it here. I think that with music the players feel happier and can work more productively," Maresca explained his approach. When asked whether he creates the playlist himself, the mentor answered with a smile: "Oh no! It's all up to the players. I'd definitely choose a different music!" The team positively accepted such changes. In particular, Mateusz Nunes noted that the atmosphere in the team has become even more relaxed: "I love it. Why not? All our guys want to be DJs." City are aiming to win their second Champions League trophy this season, following their triumph over Inter in 2023. The return to Dragan has a special symbolism for the club, because it was in Porto that Manchester City under the leadership of Guardiola sadly lost their first Champions League final to London Chelsea in 2021. "When you work at Manchester City, the expectations are always maximum, but I prefer to focus on the day-to-day work. It is very difficult now to imagine where we will be in February, March or April. The main thing is to see that we progress from game to game. The tournament is great, its format has changed and we need to adapt to it. Ambitions remain unchanged: to be yourself, to win matches, and then we'll see," Allenatore emphasized.
