Belik: If the score is not taken into account, I am satisfied with the boys - they are well done

The head coach of "Molodizhka" Shakhtar Oleksiy Belik commented on the defeat by PSV in the first round of the main stage of the UEFA Youth League-2026/27, reports the official website of the Donetsk club. Kermanych of "Miners" noted that he was upset only with the result of the confrontation and added that his wards should have equalized the score in the match. "I am satisfied with the team's performance. If I am a little upset, then only with the final score on the scoreboard. I can say from the game that in the first minutes - probably it should be like this when the home team hosts at home - they were active, and we defended more. However, with the exception of a goal and a few cross passes, in general we coped with the situation. I am generally satisfied with the second half, because we demonstrated our football, had a lot of scoring opportunities and, I think, should have equalized the score in the match. However, the fact that we played against the U-21 in the domestic championship, and after that we had two days of training at the PSV base, and under such conditions, when the players and coaches walk around the perimeter, you can't record anything in the support room regime, the preparation was mostly theoretical. I wish there was theory and practice, but they couldn't prepare anything in front of the opponent. However, I repeat: if you don't take the score into account, I'm satisfied with the guys - they're good. Everything should be worked on, because we are a team that wants to dominate with the ball. At the same time, we understand that it will not always be in our favor, so we have to be like killers in the final phase of the attack and take advantage of moments, and defense, of course. I am satisfied with the defense, because, despite the fact that they conceded a goal, I do not remember, especially in the second half, that the hosts created anything. Therefore, we will work on these components. There are still a lot of matches ahead, in which, I am sure, we will show our qualities and the result will be in our favor," Bjelik said. As a reminder, Shakhtar will play its next match in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday, October 14. "Miners" will host AEK Athens in London.
