The head coach of Carpathians, Francisco Fernandez, assessed his team's victory over Kolos (2:0) in the match of the sixth round of the championship of Ukraine. The Spanish expert noted the character of his wards, who after unsuccessful results in the previous meetings were able to get three important points. "I want to congratulate the team on the victory. We understood that the match would be difficult, and not only because we faced a difficult opponent. But also, taking into account the fact that in the two previous matches we were close to winning. Emotionally, it is difficult to overcome such moments, but the team showed the mentality of winners today. We were lucky to score the first quick goal, the beginning of the match was more or less equal. After the second goal, maybe ten minutes later, the opponent was able to push us a little lower. However, I think that the rest of the match we controlled the game. In the second half, we had a lot of scoring opportunities and could have increased the score on the scoreboard. However, the important thing is that we got three points and kept a clean sheet. It is important for us. Now it is necessary for the team to recover and prepare for the next cup match," Fernandez said. The Carpathians coach also explained the decision to drop goalkeeper Roman Mysak into the starting lineup. In previous matches, 19-year-old Denys Marchenko was the main goalkeeper of the Lviv team. "In two matches we did not win and we believed that the team needed this experience and calmness. That is why we made a choice in favor of Mysak in today's match. This in no way means that in the next matches someone else cannot play in the goal. We have four goalkeepers and each of them can play, as well as field players. I would like to add that Marchenko is a 19-year-old goalkeeper and is at the peak of his development, in the process of training. You have to keep calm and help him progress. Mysak played a good game today, as did his partners. There is no one to single out here. I think that the whole team showed good football today," concluded Fernandez. Thanks to the victory, Carpathians scored three points and took first place in the UPL standings. The teams will meet again soon. On September 16, Karpaty and Kolos will play a match of the 1/16 finals of the Cup of Ukraine. The match will take place at the Kolos stadium in Kovalivka and will start at 12:00 p.m.
