0
Edouard Mendy has officially announced the end of his career in the national team. The goalkeeper spent eight years with Senegal, making his debut in 2018, and became one of the key figures in the national team's history.
Mendy's greatest achievement as part of the national team was victory at the 2022 African Cup of Nations. In the final, Senegal defeated Egypt in a penalty shoot-out, and the goalkeeper himself saved one of the shots and helped the team win the tournament for the first time in history.
Mendy also represented Senegal at the 2022 and 2026 World Cups. In September of this year, he was nominated for the Yashin Trophy, an award for the best goalkeeper of the year.
At club level, Mendy currently plays for Saudi Al-Ahly. The goalkeeper previously played for Rennes, Chelsea and Reims.
