Ligue 1 opened an investigation into homophobic chants during the Marseille-PSG match

France's professional football league (LFP) has opened a disciplinary investigation into Marseille over homophobic chants from the stands during a match against PSG. The match took place on Sunday at the Velodrome stadium and ended with the victory of the Parisians with a score of 2:1. According to FootMercato, the LFP's disciplinary committee opened the case on Monday. Despite the incident, the meeting was not stopped, and now the commission must establish all the circumstances of what happened in the stands. Based on the results of the investigation, the LFP will decide on possible sanctions against Marseille. Currently, specific punishments for the club have not been determined. Marcel has already faced disciplinary action for similar incidents. Last season, a disciplinary panel fined the club a total of €212,500 for incidents involving homophobic slurs, as well as ordering a partial stadium closure for six matches and a further four matches with conditional partial closures.
