The former winger of the England national team and London Tottenham Andros Townsend, who currently plays for the Thai club Pi-Ti Prachuap, survived a scary incident. During the warm-up before Saturday's away match in the city of Pattani, the footballer was knocked down by a heavy leveling roller, which one of the workers lost control of. The left leg of the 35-year-old player ended up under a massive machine, but the football player miraculously avoided serious injuries. Speaking about the incident on Piers Morgan's Football Uncensored programme, Townsend admitted he was very lucky to escape with only scratches and bruises. "Every time I see it, I get creepy, I can't believe my eyes. It's terrible to look back and see what could have been. Fortunately, I was lucky to fall to the ground at the right moment, so nothing broke when the roller passed over me," the football player shared. Townsend, who has suffered a lot of serious injuries during his career, admitted that he feared the worst in the first seconds. He was afraid that the incident would finally destroy his already operated left knee or ankle: "I thought I was done. The car was quite heavy. I managed to raise my left arm and take some of the pressure off, and then my teammates ran over and helped me up. Despite the shock of his teammates, who urged him to go to the doctor, Townsend continued the warm-up. He later even came on as a substitute late in the game as his team secured a convincing 3-0 win. Later, the football player commented on the situation with humor on his Instagram page. Recalling his recent post in which he compared mediany days away in Thailand to the harsh away games at Stoke City, Townsend wrote: "Turns out the away game against Stoke City wasn't so bad after all." It should be noted that Townsend is well known to fans for his performances at the highest level. During his career in the Premier League, he defended the colors of such famous clubs as Tottenham, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Everton and Luton Town. Despite a bright playing career, the winger did not win important team trophies at the adult level - his highest achievement with Tottenham was reaching the final of the English League Cup in the 2014/15 season. Instead, his individual prowess left its mark in the league's annals, with his phenomenal long-range strike against Manchester City being voted the 2018/19 Premier League Goal of the Season. On the international stage, Townsend made his debut for England in 2013. In total, as part of the Three Lions national team, he played 13 matches, scoring 3 goals. Despite calls to the main team of the country, he never managed to play in major tournaments, such as the World Cup or Euro. His only notable international achievement remains the 2009 European Youth Championship (U19) finalist status.
