Shaw could leave Manchester United next summer

Luke Shaw could leave Manchester United when his current contract expires in the summer of 2027. According to TEAMtalk, the parties have not yet agreed on a new agreement. The 31-year-old Englishman remains one of the Mancunians' longest-serving players, but the club's management are already planning a future without him. United are only willing to consider a short-term contract extension, while Shaw's departure as a free agent remains the more likely scenario. At the same time, Manchester United plans to completely update the defensive line next summer. The club can sign four defenders at once - two fullbacks and two central defenders. Shaw enjoyed one of the most consistent seasons of his career in 2025/26, starting all 38 of Manchester United's Premier League matches. At the same time, the club is already engaged in long-term planning of the position and is looking for a younger competitor and a potential successor to the Englishman.
