Arsenal complete Bruno Guimaraes signing from Newcastle

Arsenal have officially completed the signing of Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes, bringing the Brazil international to north London after more than a month of negotiations. The Gunners confirmed Guimaraes as their third arrival of the summer, following Illan Meslier and Christos Tzolis. Arsenal first moved for the 28-year-old in June, and while Newcastle insisted he was not for sale, the midfielder made it clear he wanted to join a club competing for major silverware. Newcastle ultimately softened their stance after Arsenal showed they were ready to pay more than originally planned. The two clubs agreed on an €87.5 million deal, and Guimaraes has now signed a contract until 2030, with the option of a further season. Sporting director Andrea Berta said Guimaraes brings strong leadership, quality, and versatility, and described him as a player who can operate both as a defensive midfielder and as a box-to-box presence. Berta also said his arrival will raise internal competition and help Mikel Arteta develop the team's playing style. Guimaraes said he is at the right point of his career to take on this challenge and is determined to win trophies with Arsenal. He added that he wants to make history at the club and inspire young players to follow the same path.
