Five Arsenal players who could leave before Deadline Day, including Nwaneri and Jesus

Arsenal have one of the strongest squads in world football, but Mikel Arteta still wants to sharpen the edges. The reigning Premier League champions have already added Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge to give ageing Leandro Trossard competition, while Bruno Guimaraes has arrived after becoming one of the Premier League's best midfielders at Newcastle. Arsenal also explored a move for Vinicius Jr before he extended his Real Madrid contract. With Guimaraes taking up serious money, a marquee left-winger signing will likely need to be offset by sales. If Arsenal keep their powder dry, they can go with Tzolis and Gabriel Martinelli on the flanks. But there is still a group of players who look surplus to requirements. Arsenal want to sell him permanently, but he reportedly fell in love with Hamburg during his loan there. Hamburg want him back but cannot match Arsenal's asking price of more than €20 million. Arsenal expect another club to step in, while Hamburg hope the price drops as the deadline approaches. Ethan Nwaneri was once regarded as the biggest talent at Arsenal, but after falling down the pecking order and struggling for minutes on loan at Marseille, a sale is now possible. The club still believes in his potential, but as a homegrown player he would count as pure profit and is a marketable asset. Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund explored moves last year, while AC Milan and RB Leipzig are now circling. Some reports claim the latter are already in advanced talks for the teenager. Reiss Nelson's presence at Arsenal is surprising. The 26-year-old is a useful utility option but has not really played for the club in ages because of injuries and loan spells. After disappointing stints at Fulham and Brentford, anything other than a sale would be a shock. His contract expires next year, so this is Arsenal's last chance to get a fee. Like Nwaneri, he is a Hale End product and pure profit, but Arsenal have been poor sellers and may struggle to get a meaningful amount. Gabriel Jesus has been linked with an Arsenal exit for years because of his injury record. When fit he is still a very good player, but he has not been available enough to justify his big wages. With a year left on his contract, the 29-year-old looks set to move on. Napoli have started exploring a move amid uncertainty over Lorenzo Lucca and Romelu Lukaku. Jesus and new Napoli coach Max Allegri share the same agent, which could prove useful in negotiations.
