Arsenal transfer roundup: Konsa bid, Joao Pedro pursuit and Guimaraes twist
0
Arsenal's summer business is showing no signs of slowing down. According to reports in Spain, the Gunners have lodged a €75m offer for Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa. Mikel Arteta has made the England international a priority centre-back target, and with two years left on his deal at Villa Park, Arsenal will hope this opening bid can put pressure on the club.
The Joao Pedro saga also continues to rumble on. Reports claim Arsenal and Barcelona are both ready to pay more than €100m for the Chelsea forward. Chelsea, however, have no intention of selling and are closing in on an improved contract. Reports suggest the new deal would keep the Brazilian at Stamford Bridge until 2033, with a significant salary increase - a major setback for Arsenal's attacking plans.
There is plenty of noise around Bruno Guimaraes as well. A report over the weekend claimed Arsenal had finalised an agreement and were set to put him through a medical on Monday. media, though, say Newcastle are puzzled by that story, insisting no formal negotiations are taking place. Despite that, Guimaraes is believed to want the move, and a deal worth up to €93.5m (£80m) is reportedly getting closer.
Arteta was in a relaxed mood after Arsenal's 4-1 friendly win over Girona, but he made it clear the club remain active in the market. Asked about their interest in Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior, he said: "We won't sit still and we are very ambitious about what we want to do." Reports claim Arsenal are exploring a move for the Brazilian, with a fresh push expected if Real Madrid fail to agree an extension.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are reportedly exploring a bold move for Myles Lewis-Skelly. The 19-year-old is seen as a versatile option who can play left-back or in midfield. Arsenal are reluctant to sell, but their stance could soften if Guimaraes arrives. With four years left on Lewis-Skelly's contract, United would face a tough negotiation.
