Chelsea winger Pedro Neto has officially signed a new six-year contract at the club following his strong start to the new season.
The Portugal international has been deployed as a right wing-back following the appointment of Xabi Alonso as Chelsea’s new manager and the club have now confirmed that he has extended his deal until 2032.
Neto was heavily linked with a Stamford Bridge exit during the recent summer transfer window and it’s understood the likes of Al-Hilal, Arsenal and Manchester City were all interested in him, but a deal failed to materialise due to Chelsea’s €115 million (£100m) asking price.
The 26-year-old started Chelsea’s first Premier League game of the new season on the substitutes bench, however he has been included in the starting XI in the club’s past two English top flight fixtures, while he has two goals in five games across all competitions so far this term.
Following confirmation of his new contract, Neto told the Chelsea website : “It’s an unbelievable moment. From when I arrived, I have always felt like the people here helped me a lot. I feel like home here, I feel like I want to achieve more things here.
“I have had some good moments here as a group and as an individual, and now I want to have more of those moments. I’m really excited because I think we can achieve a lot of things together.”

News of Neto’s improved deal comes after Chelsea tied Joao Pedro down to fresh terms in August following his eye-catching debut season with the west London giants.
While the Blues have frequently offered contracts in excess of five years to new signings under the BlueCo reign, they have still looked to reward their best-performing stars with fresh deals that include lucrative pay rises.
Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson were both rewarded following their debut seasons at Stamford Bridge, while Moises Caicedo signed a new contract at the club in April after an eye-catching 12 months.
Neto is the latest to follow suit and The media reports that further contract renewals will be announced shortly.
