Chelsea have confirmed Danny Welbeck as their newest signing, bringing the former Brighton striker in on a two-year contract. Welbeck said the move filled him with pride and described it as an exciting time to join the club, adding that he already felt a connection with the manager and was determined to make the supporters proud.
Como have also stepped up their pursuit of Trevoh Chalobah. According to insider, the Italian club have made a new offer worth €30m guaranteed, after seeing bids of €25m plus €5m in add-ons rejected. The defender has already agreed personal terms worth €4m net per season and is now waiting for Chelsea to approve the transfer. Benoit Badiashile is another possible departure, with Napoli believed to be monitoring him after Alessandro Buongiorno was injured.
Joao Pedro is set to be rewarded for an impressive first year at the club. The 24-year-old, who arrived from Brighton for €63m and scored 15 Premier League goals in his debut campaign, is expected to receive improved terms and an extension until 2033. Despite reported interest from Barcelona, the forward is understood to be settled and happy, with no desire to leave this summer even though Chelsea will not be playing in Europe.
The Blues have also reopened talks for Pep Chavarria. Rayo have rejected offers in the region of €18m and are holding out for the left-back's €50m release clause, but Romano says Chelsea have now improved their bid and negotiations are moving forward.
Xabi Alonso, meanwhile, has welcomed the news that Mykhailo Mudryk's four-year ban has been overturned. The winger is expected to rejoin the group, although Alonso admitted it remains too early to say whether he will stay or be loaned to affiliate club Strasbourg. He stressed that Mudryk needs time to regain fitness and match sharpness after training alone for a long period.
