Tottenham open talks with Chelsea to sign Mykhailo Mudryk - insider Make us your Google favourite Tottenham have enquired about Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk in a move driven by Roberto de Zerbi. The Ukraine international is expected to leave Chelsea before the deadline. After winning his legal battle against a four-year doping ban, Mudryk is eligible to play again, but there is an understanding that he would struggle for minutes at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are considering loan approaches for the 25-year-old, with several suitors coming forward. Promoted Coventry, coached by Mudryk's former Blues boss Frank Lampard, were among the early teams to show an interest. To date, however, little has developed on that front. Leeds' interest has become more concrete, as they have had a loan bid rejected by Chelsea, who were unhappy with the playing time offered to Mudryk. The Elland Road club remain keen, but the Blues are seemingly favouring other options. Indeed, Chelsea have been trying to park Mudryk at sister club Strasbourg. So far, though, the player has been reluctant to leave the Premier League, which has now opened the door to a shocking - but also not really shocking - move. Spurs make Mudryk enquiry According to insider of , Tottenham have made an enquiry for Mudryk in their search for a new winger. Spurs have struggled to get deals for Cody Gakpo and Iliman Ndiaye over the line. On the face of it, this appears to be a bizarre decision from Spurs as there is no guarantee that the Ukrainian is capable of having an impact for a club with top-four aspirations. However, this proposed move makes more sense when Mudryk's relationship with Tottenham boss Roberto de Zerbi is taken into account. The Italian previously coached the winger at Shakhtar Donetsk and absolutely adores him. De Zerbi previously went so far as to suggest that Mudryk could one day win the Ballon d'Or, so it shouldn't be too surprising that he is keen to reunite with his former protégé at Spurs. Discussions are currently centred around a loan deal, with Chelsea understood to be reluctant to entertain a permanent transfer for Mudryk. It remains to be seen whether Spurs can offer the game-time guarantees that their London rivals desire. According to insider , the forward isn't the only name being discussed between the two clubs. Tottenham are also showing an interest in defender Tosin Adarabioyo, who, like Mudryk, is expected to leave before tomorrow's deadline.
