Barcelona close to €50m Ferran Torres deal with PSG

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are edging toward an agreement for Ferran Torres, with the Spain forward set to leave despite the Catalans' thin attack.
Torres scored the winning goal for Spain in the World Cup final, but his club future now appears to be elsewhere. Barcelona have already lost Robert Lewandowski, yet they are still prepared to sell the 26-year-old this summer.
PSG first opened talks with Torres during the World Cup and made significant progress on personal terms. The forward is open to the move, and after a quieter period, the transfer is gathering pace again.
Torres recently made headlines with comments hinting that he does not feel fully valued at Barcelona. Those remarks did not sit well with the club, and the Catalans are now ready to cash in. According to Ben Jacobs, PSG have begun formal discussions with Barcelona over the deal.
A quick resolution is the aim for everyone involved. Torres has already approved the transfer, and both clubs would ideally settle everything before he returns from his post-World Cup holiday on Wednesday.
PSG are believed to be willing to pay around €50 million. That would mean a loss for Barcelona, who paid Manchester City €65m for Torres in 2022. City are also part of the reason this situation has become complicated: if Torres signed an extension, Barcelona would owe City an extra €8m due to a bonus clause. The Catalans would rather sell him than send more money to Manchester.
Barcelona need every euro as they search for a new elite No.9. They have tried to convince Atletico Madrid to sell Julian Alvarez, but so far without success. A deal for the Argentina international would cost €150m or more, and Barcelona have already spent over €100m this summer. The Torres fee could give them the financial muscle to change Atletico's stance.
