Man Utd push to beat Chelsea and Arsenal to breakout wonderkid as JJ Gabriel revenge Make us your Google favourite Manchester United are not giving up hope of keeping hold of JJ Gabriel, however the club are exploring other elite young talent who could come in to soften the blow of losing their academy wonderkid. Gabriel’s future has come into huge doubt after the 15-year-old formally requested to have his contract torn up amid interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona. United see Gabriel as one of the brightest youngsters to ever come out of their academy and senior figures are getting involved to try and resolve the situation but, in the meantime, club scouts are continuing to identify similar youngsters. TEAMtalk report that one of the youngsters being targeted is Mezian Mesloub, a 16-year-old who has already broken into the first team of Ligue 1 side Lens. Mesloub is a French-born midfielder who plays for Portugal’s youth teams, having made his senior debut for Lens at the end of last season, where he grabbed attention by scoring just five seconds after coming off the bench to become the fastest debutant to ever score in Ligue 1. The teenager has already featured in three of Lens’ five games this season and United’s scouts are said to have already carried out extensive work in the hopes of beating the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea to his signature. Man Utd facing fight to sign Ligue 1 wonderkid as interest grows in teenager Mesloub is currently being used as an inverted right winger and is quickly developing a reputation for his creativity and technical ability in the final third, displaying a maturity that has attracted much attention. Any Premier League move for Mesloub wouldn’t be able to happen until after his 18th birthday in November 2027, with clubs in England being unable to sign players under that age, which may complicate any deal. That situation may allow teams such as Paris Saint-Germain or Monaco to edge ahead of Premier League sides, while the likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig have also been credited with an interest. United are still assessing Mesloub’s development before deciding whether he could become a formal target but, until then, the focus will be on trying to keep hold of Gabriel, with the youngster proving to be a hot topic around Europe due to his potential .
