Man United open talks with Crystal Palace for Ismaila Sarr

1
Manchester United have made an initial enquiry to Crystal Palace regarding a summer move for Senegal international Ismaila Sarr, according to reports from France. Foot Mercato claim that the Red Devils have opened talks with the Eagles as they look to bring the 28-year-old forward to Old Trafford before the transfer deadline. Sarr, a boyhood United fan, is said to be keen on a switch if the clubs can agree a fee. Sarr enjoyed a stellar 2025-26 season, bagging 21 goals and two assists in 45 appearances across all competitions for Palace. He carried that form into the World Cup, scoring four times as Senegal reached the round of 32, and was named Europa Conference League Player of the Year after helping the London side to their first European trophy. His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is listed at €37.4 million, and with his contract running until 2029, Palace are expected to demand a significant fee. However, questions remain over how Sarr would fit into Michael Carrick's system at United. The Senegal star is a proven goalscorer who thrives on the counterattack, while United are expected to play possession-heavy football next term. He would also face stiff competition from Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo for a starting berth, though he can provide cover for Benjamin Sesko through the middle — a role he has played for both club and country. Unless one of those wingers departs before the window closes, a deal for Sarr looks uncertain despite the early contact.
