Chelsea confirms Danny Welbeck signing on two-year deal

Chelsea has officially completed the signing of Danny Welbeck from Brighton, with the forward putting pen to paper on a two-year contract.
New head coach Xabi Alonso has made experience a priority this summer after missing out on Sunderland's Granit Xhaka. Jordan Henderson is also set to arrive on a free transfer from Brentford, while Welbeck has joined for an undisclosed fee reported to be in the region of €8 million.
"When you hear of the interest from Chelsea, it's something that fills you with such immense pride," Welbeck said. "I've got that fire in my belly and I'm ready to give it everything for this club to make everyone at Chelsea, and the supporters, proud."
Welbeck's arrival is expected to create movement in Chelsea's attack. The club is considering offers for Liam Delap and for new signing Emmanuel Emegha, while Nicolas Jackson's future is uncertain after his loan at Bayern Munich last season. Aston Villa has been linked with a late move for Jackson, but Chelsea's record signing of Morgan Rogers from Villa means another player cannot move between the clubs within 45 days without being considered a swap deal financially. The earliest Jackson could join Villa would be the September 1 transfer deadline.
Chelsea is now focusing on outgoings, with negotiations continuing over Benoit Badiashile and Trevoh Chalobah. The club is also discussing a move for Rayo left-back Pep Chavarria.
