Rangers ramp up pursuit of PSV winger Couhaib Driouech
0
Rangers have opened formal negotiations with PSV Eindhoven for Couhaib Driouech, with the winger reportedly eager to move to Ibrox this summer. The Scottish club have already signed nine players in this window, including Daisuke Yokota from Hannover, and are pushing to make Driouech the 10th addition as they try to finish above Celtic for the first time since 2021.
PSV have rejected an initial bid, but Rangers are expected to intensify their efforts in the coming days. According to Voetbal International, Driouech wants the move to Glasgow and would sign a long-term contract. The pursuit comes after Rangers ended their hopes of bringing Mikey Moore back on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
Head coach Derek McInnes has made clear he wants more forward options before Deadline Day. "We're currently looking at several wide players," he said ahead of Thursday's Europa League qualifier against Jagiellonia Bialystok. "These talks and conversations are on-going. We want to try and be as ambitious as we can."
Driouech, 24, scored seven goals in 38 appearances across all competitions last season, but he was frustrated by his role at PSV. "I had many highlights, especially in the Champions League, but to be honest, I expected more from the season," he said last month, via The Daily Record. "Three goals and two assists in six Champions League matches is not normal."
He added: "I want to play no matter what. If that's here, it's here. If not, I'll have to look further." With Rangers now ready to step up talks, PSV's resolve could be tested before the window shuts.
