Real Madrid close in on Yan Diomande after breakthrough in €120m talks

Real Madrid have taken a major step forward in their pursuit of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, with reports indicating an agreement in principle has been reached between the two clubs.
Transfer insider Ben Jacobs claims Los Blancos have now struck a deal with the Bundesliga side, and personal terms with the 19-year-old have already been finalized. The exact fee remains unclear, but Leipzig recently turned down a Madrid offer worth €90 million plus €10 million in add-ons. The German club is believed to be holding out for a fixed sum closer to €120 million.
Diomande had initially set his sights on Paris Saint-Germain, but grew frustrated with the Ligue 1 champions' failure to meet Leipzig's valuation. That opened the door for other elite suitors including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City, all of whom were reportedly prepared to bid over €100 million. However, once Real Madrid made their intentions clear, Diomande gave them priority.
Reports in Spain suggest the announcement could come within hours, with some claiming a deal might be finalized as early as Monday. However, sources in Germany counsel caution, insisting the move is not yet that advanced. Still, the consensus is that Madrid are in pole position and it is a matter of when, not if, Diomande becomes their latest blockbuster signing.
Jose Mourinho, the new Real Madrid head coach, is said to have played a decisive role in convincing the teenager. According to TEAMtalk, Mourinho personally outlined his vision for Diomande, emphasizing that he wants him to play alongside Vinicius Junior rather than replace the Brazilian. The Portuguese tactician believes a frontline of Diomande, Vinicius, and Kylian Mbappe could rival any attacking trio in world football.
